The Wisconsin Cheese Triad

The Wisconsin Cheese Triad

Ingredients for 1 sandwich. *This recipe took first place at the Grilled Cheese Competition sponsored by the Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm and Hosted by Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center.

*Suggestion:  Place bread in the freezer overnight.

Ingredients:
2 slices of Muenster Cheese
1 teaspoon of Wisconsin Salemville Blue Cheese, crumbled.
1/4 cup of 724 Wisconsin Select 3 year Aged Cheddar, shredded. [comes in 5 ounce bar]
2 pieces of Artisan Settlers Bread or Crusty Bread*
1 teaspoon of Pine River butter from Wisconsin

Cooking Directions:
[Think of this like an inside outside right side sandwich with cheese also as a crust] YUMMY!

Heat griddle to 300°F

Take knife and butter one side of each of the pieces of bread lightly.

Sprinkle the 3 year shredded cheddar on the griddle in a pile as large as a slice of bread and let it fry up a couple seconds.

Lay one piece of bread, butter side down on top of the now lightly fried cheddar shreds.

Next, put slices of Muenster down on top of the bread (that is on top of the shreds)

Now, sprinkle the Salemville Blue Cheese on top of the Muenster cheese.(that is on top of the bread that is on top of the fried shreds)

Next, place the other piece of bread butter side up on top of the blue cheese crumbles.

Beside the sandwich, sprinkle the remaining cheddar shreds down to fry lightly.

Peek at the underside of the grilling sandwich. If golden brown and crispy, flip sandwich on top of the lightly fried cheddar shreds sitting next to it on the grill.

Cover the sandwich to allow for the cheese to melt.

Enjoy The Wisconsin Cheese Triad!!
